How does HEDGEBUILDERS Filtering Work? HEDGEBUILDERS is a proxy based system. All filtering takes place on our servers, not on your computer. Every time you type in an Internet address, or click on a link to an Internet address, or type in a word to search for, the address or word you requested is routed past our servers where it is checked against our block list. If your request is not on our list, you proceed as normal to the site you requested. If your request is on our list, you get a message stating that the site you requested has been blocked along with an explanation. Since we have lightning-speed computers and a super fast connection to the Internet, the whole process of checking your request takes less than a second once it reaches the Internet. That's how simple it is! No weekly or monthly downloads, no constant monitoring, no need to rate sites or make system adjustments. HEDGEBUILDERS does all of the work for you. You won't even know it's there until you stumble into a pornographic site - and that day will come! With HEDGEBUILDERS you will receive the block screen instead of the pornography. It really is that simple! Can I use HB on more than one computer for the same price? If you have one of our regular home accounts you can use HB on up to 3 computers for no additional charge. For businesses the first computer is $6 per month, and each additional computer is $3 per month. Who qualifies for ministry accounts? Pastors, missionaries, churches, schools, and ministries. We also offer special rates for Home schools. See link on our homepage for more information. If I cancel before my subscription is up will I get a refund? Yes. All refunds are based on the number of whole unused months left in a users HB subscription minus a small admin fee. Set-up fees are non-refundable once the two-week free trial has been completed and the new user billed. In order to receive a refund you have to follow our established refund procedure. How does HB control the sexually explicit site descriptions that can come up in Search Engines? Search engines are a useful tool in surfing the web. Unfortunately they post descriptions of all web sites, many of which are full of profane and sexually explicit language. All major search engines are word filtered and available for your use. What if we find a site that should be blocked and is not? Simply e-mail HEDGEBUILDERS the web address of the site in question at Add-a-Badsite@hedge.org and we will add it to the block list - usually within an hour. Does HEDGEBUILDERS work with Macintosh? Yes, using our High Speed Proxy Filtering. Does HEDGEBUILDERS work with AOL/CompuServe? Yes with PCs, no with Macintosh. Does HEDGEBUILDERS offer free technical support? Yes, there is no charge for tech support. We ask that you attempt to have your questions answered first via e-mail. As a Not-For-Profit organization, this helps us keep our expenses down tremendously. E-mail support is available seven days a week from 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. (Central Standard Time.) Usually, you will get a response back in an hour or less. How would I uninstall HB? You would have to contact us and we would send you the uninstall information. Once you receive the correct information, uninstalling is a quick, an easy procedure. |
